Nutrition

Your child’s health, safety and wellbeing are our highest priority at Bayside Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten. We understand that the early years are a vital time for building lifelong healthy eating habits, and we are committed to supporting children in developing a positive relationship with food.

Creating healthy habits early contributes to children’s physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, helping them grow with confidence and reach their full potential.

All meals and drinks provided at our centre are nutritious, well-balanced and age-appropriate, prepared in accordance with National Regulations. We carefully consider each child’s dietary needs, allergies, cultural practices, and family preferences to ensure every child receives food that supports their growth and development.

Fresh, Wholesome Meals Every Day

Our qualified cook prepares fresh meals daily, using high-quality ingredients and seasonal produce. Meals are designed to be colourful, appealing and varied—encouraging children to explore new flavours and enjoy nutritious food.

Seasonal Two-Week Rotating Menu

We update our menu seasonally, offering a two-week rotating plan that provides children with a wide range of flavours, textures and food groups throughout the year. Seasonal changes keep mealtimes exciting and help children experience new foods in a familiar and supportive setting.

Build-Your-Own Lunch Experience

Once a week, children participate in our interactive “Build Your Own Lunch” activity, preparing their own sandwiches, wraps or sushi rolls. This hands-on experience supports:

  • independence and confidence
  • healthy choices and food awareness
  • fine motor development
  • willingness to try new foods

Children take pride in making their own meals, and we often see improved eating habits as a result.

We Provide

  • Breakfast
  • Morning Tea
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon Tea
  • Late Snack

Mealtimes That Bring Us Together

Meals are enjoyed in a large communal setting, where children can practice independence while socialising with peers. These shared moments help develop:

  • self-help skills
  • social and communication skills
  • a strong sense of community and belonging
